Top Ten Tuesday #10 - Favorite Books I've Read So Far In 2013

The weekly meme hosted by The Broke And The Bookish

I've been seriously neglecting my TTT posts the last few weeks, but since 2013 has already given me so many amazing reading experiences, I knew I had to make time for this week's.  For the most part, these are listed in no particular order.

Top Ten Books I've Read So Far In 2013

  1. Shadowfever by Karen Marie Moning - For me, 2013 is The Year Of Jericho Barrons.  Shadowfever is the conclusion to the series, answering a hundred questions and showing Barrons off to his full sex-god effect.
  2. Gone, Gone, Gone by Hannah Moskowitz - If Fever is the series that owns this year for me, Moskowitz is the author.  This is the second book I've read of hers, and it is just...unf.  Incredible.
  3. Teeth by Hannah Moskowitz - See above, and then add in magical fish and a mostly illiterate mermaid.  Yeah, it's just that awesome.
  4. Warm Bodies by Isaac Marion - I'm not a zombie person.  Like, at all.  But both Marion's prose and R's awesomeness transcend my prejudice and turn Warm Bodies into an all-time favorite.  Getting to picture Nicholas Hoult as a sexy walking corpse the whole time didn't hurt, either.
  5. Crank by Ellen Hopkins - This was one of the most emotional reading experiences I have ever had.  I can't say I enjoyed it, but it is definitely one of my favorites.
  6. Everneath by Brodi Ashton - Modernized Greek mythology, a flawed MC and one of the most adorable romantic leads ever.  'Nuff said.
  7. Ultraviolet by R. J. Anderson - The first three thirds of this book are unique and awesomely weird.  The last third is completely out of this world. This is one of the most original YA books I have ever had the pleasure to read.
  8. The Sea Of Tranquility by Katja Millay - Technically imperfect, this book is a sweeping story of loss and love, with a heavy dose of teen angst and hot boy.
  9. Pushing The Limits by Katie McGarry - One of the most emotionally intense contemporary romances I've read.
  10. Teach Me by R. A. Nelson - This book is extremely underappreciated, but I had so much fun reading it.  Both times.

Making this list makes me want to go out and buy another dozen books for the gems I may find.  2013 has been really good to me so far book-wise, I can't wait to see what the rest of the year has in store!  As always, comment with a link to your TTT and I'll do my best to spread the blog love!

  2. I wish I could wipe away Shadowfever from my mind just so I could read the whole book over again. It was an amazing conclusion to a beautiful series. Jericho Barrons, I love you. Nice list!

    1. I know the feeling! I am definitely going to reread the series at some point, but it's just not the same as reading it for the first time.

      Thanks so much, Becca!

  3. Fab list! Warm Bodies is a good one, isn't it? I liked the book and the movie. And I'm quite a fan of Sea of Tranquility and Pushing the Limits too. I really need more Hopkins books in my life. Can't believe I haven't read Crank yet.
Hope the second half of 2013 is just as amazing for you!

    1. I loved the movie, mainly because of Hoult. But the left out the singing scene. :'( Sadness. You should read Crank, but not when you don't want to read something incredibly heavy and depressing. But it really is such an amazing book.

  4. Aw man, I have not read nearly enough of these... That's kind of sad. But yay to Everneath and Ultraviolet!!! Definitely agree on the originality of Ultraviolet. That book is just amazing.

    1. Haha, you can always fix that, Debby. ;) *hint hint* But yeah, Ultraviolet took me for such a loop at the end, and it just worked for me.

    1. TSOT is incredible, especially for originally being self-published. I'm kind of turning into a Moskowitz fangirl haha.

      Thanks, Cayce!

    1. Aw, the book is even better than the movie! The writing is absolutely incredible, and they cut a few of the cutest scenes from the movie. They're both good, but you definitely need to read the book!

      Thanks, Allison!

  10. Out of all of these I've actually only read Crank. I've heard/seen a lot of love for a lot of them, though. Pushing the Limits is one that I'm actually dying to read. It's on my summer reading list. I wouldn't be opposed to many of the others either, in fact.

    1. Yes it is, especially for people who have read 60+ books so far this year. But I'm sure R will forgive you. I seriously can't wait to see what you think of The Sea Of Tranquility. It's not perfect, but I just loved it.

As you may or may not know, life is eating up way too much of my spare time right now, so pretty please don't hate me if it takes me a few days to get back to your wonderful comments. I read each and every one from my phone, and they always make my day. <3
